Address to a Haggis |
Dear Friends,
Saturday, January 24th, 2009, will mark the 44th year that our Scottish Society has celebrated the birth of Scotland’s greatest poet, Robbie Burns. About 90 people attended our dinner last January at the Church of St. Andrew and we have heard many favorable comments about the food, entertainment and companionship at that event. This coming January will be even better! We will have a pipe band, Highland dancing, songs, Scottish music and Burns’ famous Address to a Haggis. We will have great food, whiskey tasting and of course, haggis! And, this year we will be at the Holiday Inn in Goleta.
The price is $60. Although this is a little bit more than last year, the Holiday Inn is perfect for this event (as many of you may remember from past years) and we will have a professional staff to cook, serve and clean up. Please remember that your ticket includes the delicious dinner, whiskey (or apple cider) for the toasts, and entertainment that you can’t get anywhere else:
Beef with Burgundy sauce, or Salmon Florentine, or vegetarian Portobello mushroom
Poems by Robert Burns
Toast to the Immortal Memory
Sheriff’s Dept. Pipe Band
Scottish Songs and Music
The Mackinnon Highland Dancers
Raffle for exciting prizes
Please use this Reservation Form to order your tickets right away (and remember that a ticket might make a wonderful Christmas or New Year’s present for someone you know). We are looking forward to seeing you on January 24th, 2009 and helping us make this our best Burns Celebration ever!
Thank You
